Description
The Barbaresco DOCG 2016 Sobrero is a classic Nebbiolo-based wine from the Langhe region in Piedmont, Italy. Produced by the family-run winery Sobrero, it reflects a traditional winemaking style focused on structure, elegance, and faithful expression of the terroir.
Tasting Notes:
The 2016 vintage is considered an excellent year in Piedmont, and this Barbaresco shows it well. The nose is expressive and refined, with aromas of red cherry, raspberry, rose petals, violet, and subtle spicy and earthy notes. With time in the glass, it develops more complex layers of leather, tobacco, and dried herbs.
On the palate it is balanced and harmonious, with vibrant acidity typical of Nebbiolo and well-integrated but present tannins. The structure is elegant rather than powerful, with a long, slightly mineral finish. It is already enjoyable now but still has good ageing potential over the next several years.
Serving & Food Pairing:
Best served at 18°C, with a short decant (30–60 minutes) if opened while still young. It pairs beautifully with:
braised meats and roast beef
game dishes
truffle or mushroom pasta
risotto with porcini mushrooms
aged cheeses
Producer:
Sobrero is a family-owned winery in the Langhe region, producing traditional-style wines with a strong focus on Piedmontese classics such as Barolo and Barbaresco. Their approach emphasizes long macerations, large oak ageing, and a clear expression of regional character.
