Description

Barbera 1982 Marchesi di Barolo is a red wine from Piedmont, Italy, produced by the historic Marchesi di Barolo, a family estate celebrated for its mastery of traditional Piedmontese varieties. This vintage highlights Barbera’s characteristic freshness and vibrant acidity, while demonstrating the complexity and refinement that comes with decades of careful aging.

Tasting Notes:
The wine shows a deep garnet color with orange-brick hues along the rim, reflecting its maturity. The bouquet is expressive and layered, featuring aromas of dried cherries, red plums, and subtle hints of raspberries, complemented by tertiary notes of leather, tobacco, gentle spices, and earthy undertones. Gentle aeration reveals delicate balsamic and mineral nuances, enhancing the wine’s sophistication.

On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied with smooth, integrated tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is long and elegant, showcasing dried red fruits, soft spices, and refined earthy notes, reflecting both the careful maturation of the wine and the expressive character of Barbera from Marchesi di Barolo’s vineyards.

Serving & Food Pairing:
Serve at around 16–18°C.

Pairs beautifully with roasted or braised meats, game, risottos, mushroom dishes, and medium- to aged cheeses. Its structure and elegance also allow it to be enjoyed on its own as a contemplative tasting wine.

Producer:
Marchesi di Barolo is renowned for producing Piedmontese wines that combine elegance, regional authenticity, and aging potential. The 1982 Barbera demonstrates the winery’s ability to highlight Barbera’s vibrant character while respecting traditional craftsmanship.
