1977 Barbera d’Alba – Brero (Piedmont)

The 1977 vintage in Piedmont produced classically styled wines, favouring balance and steady evolution rather than overt power. This Barbera d’Alba from Brero reflects a traditional era of regional winemaking, where freshness, acidity and food-friendly structure defined the style.

Tasting Notes:
Now showing a mature brick-red hue with garnet reflections at the rim, the nose is gently evolved and savoury. Aromas of dried red cherry, plum and redcurrant are layered with notes of leather, dried herbs and subtle earthy spice. On the palate it is medium-bodied and harmonious, with softened tannins and the lively acidity characteristic of Barbera that preserves freshness despite its age. Flavours of dried berry fruits, light balsamic tones and savoury undertones unfold gradually, leading to a smooth, elegant and gently persistent finish.

Serving & Food Pairing:
Decant carefully to remove sediment and allow the wine to open slowly before serving. Best enjoyed at cellar temperature. A fine partner to braised meats, mushroom dishes, charcuterie or mature hard cheeses.
