Tasting Note
Ripe and vibrant, the 2021 Barbera d’Alba Gisep opens with brilliant crimson and ruby hues. On the nose, expressive black cherry, fresh raspberry and wild blueberry intertwine with lifted floral hints of violet and dried rose petal, alongside soft spice and a touch of minerality.
The palate is generous yet focused — juicy black and red fruits are framed by zesty acidity and polished tannins, giving superb drive and freshness. Layers of morello cherry, plum skin and a whisper of licorice follow through to a long, finely textured finish with saline tension and subtle forest floor notes.
Food Pairing
Outstanding with hearty Italian fare — think slow-cooked ragu, mushroom risotto, grilled sausages, or aged pecorino. The wine’s acid structure makes it beautiful with tomato-based dishes and charcuterie too.
Serve: 16–18°C.
Decanting: 20–30 minutes recommended.
