Description

Barolo DOC 1966 Luigi Calissano Riserva Speciale is a historic red wine from Piedmont, Italy, produced by the traditional winery Luigi Calissano. This bottling represents a classic late-1960s Riserva Barolo, made from Nebbiolo and crafted for extended aging and slow evolution in bottle over decades.

Tasting Notes:
Brick-garnet color with amber and orange reflections. Aromas of dried rose petals, cherry liqueur, leather, tobacco, tar, licorice, and forest floor, with earthy, balsamic, and spice nuances.
Fully mature palate with softened tannins, still-vibrant acidity, and layered tertiary complexity. Long, elegant finish with notes of dried herbs, smoke, and aged spice.

Serving & Food Pairing:
Serve at 16–18°C, with very gentle decanting only if necessary to remove sediment.

Pairs well with braised meats, game, porcini mushrooms, truffle dishes, risotto, tajarin pasta, polenta, and aged cheeses.

Producer:
Luigi Calissano is a historic Piedmontese winery known for traditional Barolo and Barbaresco production, focused on long-aged expressions of Nebbiolo from the Langhe region.
