Description
Founded in 1761, Giacomo Borgogno & Figli is one of Barolo’s oldest and most traditional houses. Based in the village of Barolo itself, Borgogno is renowned for its classic long-fermentation, extended cask ageing and late release philosophy, producing wines built for decades of evolution.
Tasting note:
After over half a century in bottle, the 1970 Barolo Riserva opens with a delicate, ethereal bouquet of dried roses, truffle, autumn leaves and tobacco, underscored by hints of tea leaf, leather and cherry liqueur. The palate is graceful and evolved, revealing layers of dried red fruit, forest floor and spice, framed by fine, resolved tannins and a lingering, savoury finish. A wine of quiet complexity and traditional Barolo character
