Description

1987 Danis-Sauvestre

Overview:
A beautifully mature sweet Bordeaux from the historic Sainte-Croix-du-Mont appellation, the 1987 Danis-Sauvestre reflects the traditional botrytised style produced on the right bank of the Garonne opposite Sauternes. Now fully evolved, it offers honeyed richness, tertiary complexity and the mellow elegance that develops with extended bottle age.

Appearance:
Deep amber-gold with burnished copper reflections, showing developed maturity and concentration.

Nose:
Rich and fully evolved, revealing aromas of orange marmalade, dried apricot and honeycomb layered with notes of caramelised citrus peel, beeswax and toasted nuts. With air, subtle nuances of saffron, dried tropical fruits and soft spice emerge, adding complexity and depth.

Palate:
Smooth, mellow and beautifully balanced, with flavours of candied orange, apricot preserve and honeyed stone fruits supported by notes of caramel, roasted nuts and gentle botrytis character. The sweetness remains lifted by fresh acidity, giving the wine harmony and elegance despite its maturity.

Finish:
Long, warming and softly honeyed, lingering through marmalade, dried fruits and delicate spice.

About the Appellation:
Sainte-Croix-du-Mont is a traditional sweet wine appellation of Bordeaux situated opposite Sauternes on the banks of the Garonne. Produced predominantly from Sémillon-based blends affected by noble rot, the wines are known for their honeyed richness, aromatic complexity and impressive ageing potential.
