Description

1966 Château Rauzan-Ségla

Overview:
Beautifully mature expression of traditional Margaux, showcasing finesse, aromatic complexity and understated elegance. The 1966 Château Rauzan-Ségla stands as a captivating example of traditional Bordeaux winemaking, offering a refined and contemplative drinking experience for lovers of mature claret.

Appearance:
Mature garnet core with a brick and tawny rim, showing the graceful evolution expected from a well-aged Margaux of classic provenance.

Nose:
Elegant and fully tertiary, opening with aromas of dried red cherry, redcurrant and soft black tea layered with cedarwood, cigar box and forest floor. With air, further complexity develops through notes of dried rose petals, leather, autumn leaves and subtle earthy spice, all framed by a refined Margaux perfume.

Palate:
Silky, medium-bodied and fully resolved, with tannins now completely integrated into a smooth, harmonious texture. The fruit has evolved into savoury tones of dried cherry, plum skin and redcurrant, supported by classic Left Bank nuances of tobacco leaf, cedar, graphite and gentle earth. The structure remains balanced and elegant, with fresh acidity carrying the wine through its tertiary complexity.

Finish:
Long, graceful and savoury, leaving lingering impressions of cedar, dried fruits, tobacco and soft earthy spice.

About the Estate:
