Description

1983 Château Sigalas Rabaud

Appearance:
Deep amber-gold with luminous copper highlights, displaying the rich colour concentration and graceful evolution expected from mature classified Sauternes.

Nose:
Intensely aromatic and beautifully developed, offering layers of apricot preserve, orange marmalade and honeycomb alongside notes of caramelised pineapple, saffron and toasted almond. Further complexity emerges with hints of crème brûlée, dried tropical fruits and exotic spice.

Palate:
Luxuriously textured and concentrated, yet lifted by vibrant acidity that gives the wine remarkable balance and freshness. Flavours of candied citrus, peach compote and baked apricot are intertwined with notes of acacia honey, vanilla and gentle botrytis spice. The mature tertiary character adds depth and elegance without diminishing the wine’s richness and intensity.

Finish:
Exceptionally long and silky, lingering with impressions of honeyed stone fruits, orange peel, caramel and soft spice.

Conclusion:
A beautifully mature Premier Cru Classé Sauternes showing impressive richness, complexity and harmony after decades of bottle age. The 1983 vintage delivers both opulence and freshness, making this a deeply expressive and rewarding sweet Bordeaux now at a magnificent stage of maturity.
