  • Description

The *Vermuth Chinato* from Capetta is a distinctive fusion of two great Italian traditions—vermouth and *vino chinato*. Produced in Piedmont, this style combines a fortified wine base with the classic botanical blend of vermouth, while also incorporating quinine bark (*china*), which imparts the signature bittersweet depth of a Chinato. The result is an aromatised wine that is richer, more complex, and slightly more medicinal in character than standard vermouth, crafted for both aperitivo and digestivo enjoyment.

In the glass, it would display a deep amber-brown hue with warm ruby glints, promising aromatic intensity. The bouquet is layered and enticing, with notes of dried orange peel, warm spices, and alpine herbs, joined by a subtle medicinal bitterness from quinine and gentian. Undertones of cocoa, vanilla, and dried fig round out the aromatic profile, giving it both warmth and elegance.

On the palate, Capetta’s *Vermuth Chinato* is smooth, velvety, and balanced, with sweetness from caramelised fruit and vanilla countered by a refined herbal bitterness. Flavours of spiced citrus, raisin, and cinnamon evolve into darker tones of cocoa, liquorice, and coffee, while the quinine lends a clean, lingering, slightly tonic-like finish.

Served neat at cellar temperature, it makes a sophisticated after-dinner drink, pairing beautifully with dark chocolate, nut-based desserts, or aged cheeses. It can also be enjoyed over ice with a twist of orange for a more refreshing aperitivo. The *Vermuth Chinato* from Capetta offers a distinctive, old-world Italian drinking experience—where the elegance of vermouth meets the complexity of Chinato.
