    A Rare Mature White Bordeaux
The 1979 Château Malartic-Lagravière Graves Blanc offers a fascinating opportunity to taste an aged white Bordeaux from one of the few classified estates in the Graves region. Known today for both its elegant reds and whites, Malartic-Lagravière has a long history of producing mineral-driven, structured wines that can age gracefully under the right conditions.

    A Vintage with Classic Character
The 1979 vintage in Bordeaux was cooler and more traditional, yielding whites with bright acidity and delicate fruit rather than overt opulence. For Graves Blanc in particular, this vintage emphasized freshness and minerality over richness, allowing for the development of subtle tertiary aromas with long aging.

    Mature Aromatics and Delicate Texture
After more than 40 years, this white displays a deep golden color, reflecting its age. On the nose, expect evolved aromas of dried apricot, honey, beeswax, toasted nuts, and subtle herbal undertones. The palate is smooth and mellow, with soft acidity and a gentle, nutty finish. While not as vibrant as in youth, it offers a unique, contemplative experience for those who enjoy old white wines.

    Serving and Pairing Recommendations
Older white Bordeaux should be handled gently: chill slightly (around 12 °C), but avoid over-chilling to allow the delicate aromas to emerge. Decanting may be considered to help open the bouquet, though it should be done cautiously. Pair with aged cheeses, roasted poultry, or richer seafood dishes like lobster or scallops in butter sauce to complement its mature, nutty profile.

    A Unique Clearance Opportunity
Offered as a clearance offer, this 1979 Château Malartic-Lagravière Graves Blanc represents exceptional value for adventurous collectors or enthusiasts of old whites. Please note: this bottle is excluded from our standard guarantee and is sold as seen, reflecting its advanced age and clearance status. A rare chance to explore the evolution of a historic Bordeaux white at a very special price.

Purchased by the family of Count Hippolite de Maurès de Malartic at the end of the eighteenth century, Château Malartic Lagravière has been renowned for centuries for the quality of its terroir. In 1997, the Bonnie family bought it from the Marly family. The Château is one of only six Classified Growths with both red and white wines. The vineyard covers 53 hectares (46ha devoted to red and 7ha to white) and the wines it produces nowadays are of exceptional quality.
