Description
The Dolcetto d’Alba DOC 1986 Giovanni Accomasso “Roccherre” is a rare historic red wine from the Langhe region in Piedmont, Italy. Produced from Dolcetto grapes, it reflects a traditional interpretation of Dolcetto focused on immediate drinkability, yet capable—when well preserved—of developing gentle tertiary complexity over time.
Tasting notes:
The 1986 vintage is now fully mature and evolved. The nose shows aromas of dried black cherry, plum skin, cocoa, leather, tobacco leaf, and forest floor. With aeration, additional nuances of dried herbs, earth, and faint balsamic tones may appear.
On the palate it is soft, rounded, and fully evolved, with low tannic presence and integrated acidity. The fruit has shifted into savory, dried-fruit, and lightly bitter-chocolate notes, supported by earthy and subtle spicy complexity. The finish is medium in length, smooth, and gently rustic, typical of aged Dolcetto d’Alba.
Serving & food pairing:
Best served at 16–18°C, with careful handling and minimal decanting.
It pairs well with:
Roasted meats
Pork dishes and sausages
Mushroom risotto
Semi-aged cheeses
Traditional Piedmontese cuisine
Producer:
Giovanni Accomasso is a traditional Piedmontese winemaker known for small-scale, classic Barolo and Langhe production. Wines labeled “Roccherre” reflect vineyard-based bottlings tied to local cru traditions, expressing a more artisanal and terroir-driven approach within the Langhe winemaking landscape.
