Description
Graham’s Malvedos 1976 is a rare example from one of the Douro’s most iconic single-quinta vineyards, offering nearly fifty years of slow cask and bottle development. The warm, dry conditions of 1976 produced Ports with generous fruit in their youth, and today this Malvedos has evolved into a beautifully mature and refined expression, showing the depth and richness for which Graham’s is renowned.
The nose is wonderfully lifted, with aromas of figs, dates, orange peel, caramelised nuts and a touch of warm spice. There is a lovely mellow sweetness wrapped around gentle oxidative notes, giving the wine both elegance and vintage charm. Hints of cocoa, tobacco and dried flowers add further complexity.
On the palate, the wine is smooth, silky and fully integrated, with soft tannins and a rounded, velvety texture. Flavours of dried fruits, molasses, roasted nuts and subtle spice unfold gradually, leading to a long, warming finish. This is classic mature Malvedos: generous, harmonious and deeply satisfying.
Food pairing: Excellent with Stilton, mature cheddar, walnuts, chocolate desserts or simply enjoyed on its own as a contemplative after-dinner Port. Drinking beautifully now.
