  • Description

The 2001 Palmer Port Colheita is a finely matured single-harvest Tawny Port, aged in seasoned oak casks to reveal the elegance and complexity of the 2001 vintage. With over two decades of cask ageing, this Colheita displays superb balance between richness and freshness, making it an excellent choice for collectors and Port lovers. Enjoy now or cellar until 2030+.

    Tasting Notes:
Amber-tawny with golden highlights. The nose is expressive, offering aromas of dried apricot, figs, walnuts and a touch of vanilla and spice. On the palate, layers of caramel, raisin, orange peel and roasted almond are lifted by lively acidity, creating both depth and vibrancy. The finish is smooth, long and nutty, with lingering notes of dried fruits and oak.

    Serving Tips & Storage
Colheita Ports are bottled ready to enjoy and do not require decanting. Serve slightly chilled (12–14°C) to enhance aromatic expression and freshness. This 2001 Colheita is a superb partner for tarte tatin, pecan pie, crème caramel or a fine selection of mature cheeses. Once opened, the wine will remain in excellent condition for several weeks if stored upright in a cool place. Store unopened bottles on their side, in a cool, dark environment away from heat and light.

Palmer is an independent Port house with a reputation for producing traditional styles at outstanding value. Samuel Palmer, a late ancestor of the Van Zeller family – once owner of Casa de Malladas – was a maverick and a remarkable icon in the trade of high-quality Port shipped to England. Paying attention to every single detail, the Van Zeller family have carefully aged their wines in the highest quality oak casks to ensure that they mature these rare elixirs as Samuel Palmer once wanted them to be. Specialising in Colheitas, Tawnies and Aged Ports, Palmer sources its grapes from the Douro Valley’s schistous vineyards, crafting expressive, authentic wines that combine heritage with elegance.
