Description

The 2018 HE Weine Pinot Noir is a beautifully expressive wine from one of Germany’s most refined artisan producers. Warmer conditions in 2018 produced a slightly richer, more generous style compared to cooler vintages, yet the hallmark HE elegance and precision remain firmly in place. This is a Pinot Noir that balances ripe fruit with finesse and poise.

In the glass, the wine shows a vibrant ruby-red colour with a touch more depth than the later vintages. The aromas are inviting and layered, offering ripe cherry, strawberry and red plum, supported by subtle floral notes and a gentle hint of spice. There is an immediate warmth and openness to the bouquet that reflects the vintage’s sunny character.

The palate is smooth, rounded and beautifully balanced, combining ripe red-fruit flavours with a fine, refreshing acidity. Notes of cherry, raspberry and soft berry compote are joined by touches of spice, cocoa and a light earthy minerality. The tannins are silky and well-integrated, giving the wine a seamless, graceful texture.

Despite the vintage’s generosity, the wine retains a clear sense of structure and freshness, allowing it to age gracefully over the coming years. Over time, the fruit will mellow into deeper savoury tones, with woodland, spice and subtle umami complexity emerging as it matures. It is both approachable young and rewarding with cellaring.
