Description

Our wine buyer has put together a fabulous selection of Ports. We take pride in visiting and working with small producers to import outstanding ports so that we can offer them at great prices. This selection of Ports is an expression of that philosophy and features four producers that we have been working with over the last 12 months.

The pack contains (all 75cl):
10 Year Old Tawny Port by Messias
Ruby Port by Burmester
Lagrima White Port by Quevedo
2018 Late Bottled Vintage Port by Palmer
2015 Colheita Port by Quinta Das Carvalhas
2001 Vintage Port from Hooper's

10 Year Old Tawny Port by Messias
Golden amber with hints of mahogany, reflecting its aging process. Rich and complex aromas with bags of spice, caramel, marmalade, nutty and fig flavours. Wonderfully viscous and warm on the palate, it delivers a fully textured and well-structured river of dried fruit flavours. The finish is long and satisfying. Tawny Ports are ready-to drink and do not require decanting. Best enjoyed slightly chilled at 12-13ºC they will work wonders if pairing with treacle tart, crème brulee or nut based desserts, like hazelnut praline.

Ruby Port by Burmester
This wine is obtained by blending different harvests, initially aged in oak vats and subsequently blended after 3 years. It is bottled young in order to preserve its strong and lively personality. Its exceptional fruity, fresh and original bouquet is a unique experience when drunk in the open air.

Reserve Lagrima by Quevedo
Porto Lágrima is a richer style of Port, the sweetest wine in the category of White Port. Its name Lágrima/ Tear came about thanks to the tears that flow into the glass when we shake it, due to its high sugar content. It is a more intense, honeyed and aromatic Port. With a predominant golden colour and liqueur texture, it has absolutely irresistible honey and floral aromas. It should be served cooler than other Ports, between 8 and 10ºC and is perfect to accompany desserts or to drink alone. On the nose sweet honey notes intermingle with white fruit and pear or apple jam nuances. On the palate it is thick and rich, with the predominance of fruity character. Full bodied and sweet on the finish.

2018 Late Bottled Vintage from Palmer
A classic LBV from the Van Zeller family (Barão de Vilar) under the Palmer label—single-harvest, traditionally foot-trod and matured in large casks before bottling unfiltered for depth and definition. In the glass it’s deep purple-garnet. The nose is vibrant: blackberry and black cherry conserve, cassis and violet, with cocoa, liquorice, cracked pepper and a subtle eucalyptus lift.

2015 Colheita Port by Quinta Das Carvalhas
Deep amber in colour, with rich aromas of dried fruits, nuts, caramel, and subtle spices, often with a touch of vanilla and honey. On the palate it is smooth and well-rounded, with flavours of figs, raisins, nuts, toffee, and a hint of citrus zest. The oak aging imparts a mellow, velvety texture. It finishes with a long and elegant aftertaste, with a balanced sweetness and a hint of spice.

2001 Vintage Port from Hooper's
This vintage is crafted primarily from traditional grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, and Touriga Francesa, sourced from vines over 100 years old. The wine presents a deep color with violet undertones. On the nose, it offers aromas of oak and maple syrup, reflecting its aging process. The palate is rich with flavors of dried fruits like prunes and raisins, complemented by notes of dark plum Serving Suggestions: For optimal enjoyment, it's recommended to store the wine horizontally at a constant temperature of around 15ºC and serve it between 15ºC and 18ºC. It pairs well with blue cheese, mature cheddar, nuts, and chocolate desserts.
