Description
The Quinta da Devesa 10-Year-Old White Port is a superb aged white port from the Douro Valley, crafted with meticulous care by a producer known for balancing tradition with innovation. Made from a blend of native white grape varieties, this wine is aged naturally in oak vats at the estate’s cellars, developing a rich and layered profile over the course of a decade.
In the glass, it reveals a clear golden hue—an indication of its extended oxidative aging. The nose is expressive and complex, offering aromas of dried fruits, citrus peel, vanilla, and soft spice. These aromatic elements are carried through to the palate, where flavours of honey, apricot, buttered toffee, and subtle tropical fruit are all present, supported by a silky texture and a long, elegant finish.
This white port is best served slightly chilled, between 10°C and 12°C, to highlight its aromatic intensity and freshness. It is an excellent pairing with a variety of foods, from salted almonds and aged cheeses to foie gras, melon soup, or fruit-based desserts. Its sweet-savoury complexity also makes it a fine match for Asian cuisine or as a refined aperitif.
Once opened, the wine maintains its quality for several months if stored properly—thanks to its oxidative style. The Quinta da Devesa 10-Year White Port is a wonderful alternative to tawny and ruby styles, offering both freshness and depth. It’s an ideal choice for those looking to explore the more nuanced and rare category of aged white port.
A historic vineyard, Quinta da Devesa was already included as a quality grape growing plot in the first map of the Douro Demarcated Region. The most important history of the property began in 1941 when Jose Fortunato Junior and his wife, Antonia Soares Fortunato acquired Quinta da Devesa and decided to pour their lifetime passion for port wine into the property through great investment in port and, later, dry wine production. Over seventy years later, harvests of superior quality have been kept and stored in wooden casks in the winery cellars. These are used today to produce the famed tawny and aged white port blends alongside some exceptional colheita ports dating back to 1944.

***90 Points - Mark Squires (eRobert Parker)***
The NV 10 Years White Port was bottled in 2020 with 114 grams of residual sugar and a bar-top cork. Not showing anywhere near as sweet as the residual sugar statistics would suggest, this does still seem very rich. It is not a style that is as bright and lively as some, but there is more intensity of flavor than most. It has bitter chocolate and caramel nuances, sometimes seeming more Tawny-like. It adds some grip on the finish. July 2020 (Mark Squires)

This young style of white Port shows a good mix of wood-aging and fruit flavours. It has a seductive gold colour, leading into rich sultana and white-fig flavours. The wine is ready to drink.
