  • Description

The Quinta da Devesa Rosé 2023 is a fresh and elegant expression of the Douro Valley's potential for vibrant, food-friendly rosé wines. Made from a classic blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, and Touriga Franca, this vintage reflects the estate’s attention to quality and its commitment to showcasing the region’s versatility beyond fortified wines. The wine presents a delicate pink hue and is vinified to retain its natural fruitiness and aromatic intensity.

On the nose, it opens with bright, lifted aromas of wild strawberries, redcurrants, and subtle floral undertones. These are balanced by hints of herbaceous freshness, adding complexity without overwhelming the wine’s light style. The palate follows through with crisp acidity and well-integrated fruit flavours. There’s a smooth texture and a pleasing dryness that gives the wine a refreshing finish, making it especially well-suited for warm weather and casual gatherings.

Critics have responded positively to the 2023 vintage. It received 17 points from Vinho Grandes Escolhas, noted for its clean, ripe fruit and balanced structure. Revista de Vinhos awarded it 88 points, praising the round tannins and overall harmony. These accolades reflect the growing recognition of Devesa’s still wines, which are produced in limited quantities and with a clear focus on quality and terroir expression.

Perfect as an aperitif, the Quinta da Devesa Rosé also pairs beautifully with shellfish, tapas, grilled vegetables, and cured meats. It’s best served well-chilled to enhance its lively character. Whether enjoyed on its own or as part of a summer meal, this rosé offers an authentic taste of the Douro and an excellent alternative for those looking to explore the region’s drier wine offerings.

Quinta da Devesa was included in the first map of the Douro Demarcated Region in 1844. Acquired by the Fortunato family in 1941, it has remained their independent family company, dedicated to the production of port wine. The vineyards and winery Baixo Corgo overlook the confluence of the rivers Douro and Corgo. Vineyard elevation is up to 500m and farmed with minimum intervention. Only vintages of superior quality stored in wooden barrels in their estate cellars are used for their port wines.
