A Floral and Elegant Vintage from Vale de Mendiz

Quinta do Passadouro has announced the release of its 2024 Vintage Port, a beautifully refined and expressive wine that captures the distinctive floral character and elegance of the Vale de Mendiz terroir. Produced in very limited quantities and crafted using traditional foot treading in granite lagares, the 2024 vintage combines aromatic purity, freshness, and structure with remarkable balance and finesse.

Deep purple-black in colour, the nose is intensely fragrant and lifted, revealing aromas of violets, rockrose, and wild herbs layered over notes of blackberry, black cherry, cassis, and ripe plum. Subtle hints of spice and schist minerality add complexity and precision, while the wine’s vibrant floral profile gives it remarkable freshness and definition.

On the palate, the wine is generous yet poised, with concentrated dark fruit flavours framed by finely integrated tannins and lively acidity. The texture is polished and harmonious, balancing richness with freshness and elegance. The floral and herbal nuances remain evident throughout the palate, bringing lift and complexity to a long, persistent, and beautifully defined finish.

The 2024 growing season provided near-perfect conditions for balanced ripening, with generous winter rainfall, moderate summer temperatures, and cool nights during harvest preserving aromatic clarity and freshness. Touriga Nacional and Touriga Francesa performed exceptionally well, contributing colour, structure, and expressive aromatics to the final blend. Traditional foot treading and extended maceration in granite lagares further enhanced the wine’s texture and depth.

The price shown is In Bond, which means it excludes UK alcohol duty and VAT. These taxes will become payable when the wine is withdrawn from bond, or if it is delivered for home consumption.
