A Rare and Elegant Vintage from One of the Douro’s Historic Estates
Quinta de Roriz has announced the release of its 2024 Vintage Port, an exceptionally limited bottling produced by the Prats & Symington partnership. Marking only the third declared Vintage Port from this historic estate under the current ownership, the 2024 vintage beautifully captures the purity, elegance, and mineral precision that define Quinta de Roriz.
Deep purple-black in colour, the nose is intensely aromatic and refined, revealing exuberant floral aromas alongside layers of black cherry, cassis, blackberry, and dark berry fruit. Delicate notes of liquorice, crushed schist, and subtle spice emerge beneath the wine’s lifted fruit profile, while fresh mineral acidity adds brightness and definition.
On the palate, the wine is poised, polished, and beautifully balanced, combining concentrated red and black fruit flavours with silky tannins and vibrant freshness. The structure is firm yet elegant, with the hallmark minerality of Quinta de Roriz carrying through the palate and adding precision to the wine’s layered complexity. Notes of cassis, black cherry, and subtle liquorice persist into a long, harmonious, and finely detailed finish.
The 2024 growing season provided ideal conditions for a classic Douro harvest, with generous winter rainfall, moderate temperatures, and a gradual ripening cycle allowing the grapes to achieve excellent phenolic maturity while preserving freshness and aromatic purity. Touriga Franca excelled in particular, contributing floral lift and elegance, while Touriga Nacional added structure and depth to the final blend.

Quinta de Roriz is one of the Douro Valley’s oldest and most historic estates, with records dating back to the 18th century. Situated on the south bank of the Douro River between Pinhão and Tua, the estate is renowned for its distinctive schist soils and unique mineral character. Under the stewardship of the Prats & Symington partnership, Quinta de Roriz combines centuries of heritage with meticulous vineyard management and traditional winemaking techniques to produce Vintage Ports of exceptional finesse, purity, and longevity.

The third vintage from this estate which is responsible for producing Chryseia Douro wine, just 360 cases from Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Sousão: deep in hue with open, rich cassis-like aromas with lovely approachable, lithe spicy fruit combining a green edge with a touch of liquorice too and a grippy finish.
