The 1999 vintage from Sandeman’s Quinta do Vau is a superb example of a Single Quinta Vintage Port from a strong but selectively declared year. Bottled in magnum, this wine benefits from slower, more harmonious ageing, preserving freshness while developing impressive depth and complexity. Now over two decades old, it is entering an excellent drinking window while retaining further cellaring potential.

On the nose, the wine shows classic mature Vintage Port character with aromas of blackberry compote, damson and black cherry, complemented by notes of dried fig, cocoa, liquorice and gentle spice. With air, secondary nuances of cedar, tobacco leaf and graphite emerge, reflecting its long bottle maturation.

The palate is full-bodied and structured, with rich dark fruit layered against firm but well-resolved tannins. The magnum format enhances balance and poise, delivering a silky texture, fresh acidity and a long, composed finish with lingering notes of dark chocolate and black fruit.
