Description

Sangre de Toro DOC 1986 Torres is a red wine from Catalonia, Spain, produced by the renowned winery Torres, one of Spain’s most historic and influential wine estates. The 1986 vintage exemplifies the classic Sangre de Toro style: full-bodied, approachable, and elegant, with a remarkable balance of fruit, structure, and aging potential.

Tasting Notes:
The wine shows a deep ruby-red color with garnet hues along the rim, indicative of its age. The bouquet is rich and complex, revealing aromas of ripe red and black berries, dried cherries, and subtle hints of plum, complemented by tertiary notes of leather, cedar, tobacco, and gentle spice. Aeration allows soft earthy and balsamic undertones to emerge, enhancing depth and refinement.

On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is smooth, lingering, and elegant, highlighting dried fruit, delicate spice, and soft earthy notes, reflecting the careful maturation of this iconic Spanish wine over decades.

Serving & Food Pairing:
Serve at around 16–18°C, decanting gently if sediment is present.

Pairs beautifully with Mediterranean and Spanish cuisine, including roasted meats, grilled lamb, game, rich stews, and medium-aged cheeses. Its approachable structure also allows it to be enjoyed on its own as a contemplative tasting experience.

Producer:
Torres is celebrated for crafting wines that combine tradition, elegance, and consistency, and Sangre de Toro is one of their flagship wines. The 1986 vintage reflects the winery’s mastery in producing wines that are both expressive of Catalonia’s terroir and capable of graceful aging.
