Description
Smith Woodhouse, 2007
Vintage Port
The 2007 vintage in the Douro is widely regarded as one of the finest declared years of the 21st century, producing Vintage Ports of purity, concentration and impressive balance. Smith Woodhouse, traditionally known for its firm, drier house style and excellent value within the Symington portfolio, crafted a 2007 that combines structure with vibrant fruit.
Produced from carefully selected vineyards in the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior, the 2007 reflects the vintage’s hallmark freshness alongside depth and ageing potential.
Tasting Notes:
Deep opaque ruby in colour, the nose is expressive and youthful. Aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant and ripe plum are layered with notes of dark chocolate, violet and subtle spice. On the palate it is full-bodied and concentrated, with firm, well-defined tannins supporting flavours of dark berries, cocoa and gentle peppery warmth. The finish is long, structured and persistent, showing both power and balance.
Serving & Food Pairing:
Decant carefully to remove natural sediment and allow the wine time to breathe before serving. Best enjoyed at cellar temperature. A classic partner to blue cheeses, dark chocolate desserts or simply savoured on its own.
Summary:
A structured and expressive Vintage Port from an outstanding declared year, Smith Woodhouse 2007 offers depth, freshness and excellent ageing potential — a fine example of modern Douro precision with traditional backbone.
