The 1970 Taylor’s is one of the most iconic Vintage Ports of the 20th century, and in half-bottle format, it offers a rare opportunity to enjoy a perfectly mature expression of this legendary wine without opening a full bottle. Taylor’s is renowned for its depth, structure, and longevity, and the 1970 vintage captures the house style at its finest—powerful yet refined, with extraordinary cellaring potential that continues to impress over 50 years on.

In the glass, this Port shows a deep amber-garnet hue with a bright, translucent rim. The nose is complex and beautifully evolved, offering aromas of dried black cherry, fig, orange peel, and violets, supported by secondary notes of cedarwood, roasted nuts, cocoa, and sweet pipe tobacco. There's a lifted freshness and a subtle floral elegance that persists, even with extended bottle age.

On the palate, the wine is rich and silky, with layers of dried fruit, dark chocolate, cinnamon, and hints of espresso. The tannins have mellowed into a gentle grip that frames the wine without overpowering it. Acidity remains lively, giving the wine clarity and length, while the finish lingers gracefully with notes of liquorice, spice, and toasted almond. In the half-bottle format, maturity tends to arrive earlier than in standard bottles, and this example is drinking beautifully now.
