Description
Cinzano Vermouth Rosso – Early to Mid 1970s Bottling
This rare bottle of Cinzano Vermouth Rosso dates from the early-to-mid 1970s (circa 1972–1976), a period when the brand’s bold red-and-blue diagonal logo and ornate label design became synonymous with Italy’s golden age of aperitivi. The lavish scrollwork, coats of arms, and the classic “1 Litro” Italian bottling make this a striking piece of mid-century design as well as a collectible spirit.
In the glass, the vermouth reveals a deep ruby-brown hue with amber edges, developed from decades of natural ageing. The nose is richly aromatic, offering dried cherries, candied orange peel, and spiced notes of clove and cinnamon, underpinned by wormwood, herbs, and a gentle oxidative nuttiness unique to bottles of this age.
On the palate, the sweetness has mellowed into a harmonious blend of caramelised fruit, herbal bitterness, and hints of cocoa, licorice, and balsamic. Layers of spiced citrus and dried fig unfold with remarkable depth, the flavours softened and integrated by half a century of evolution.
The finish is long, bittersweet, and warming, leaving a lingering echo of orange, spice, and herbal complexity. This 1970s Cinzano Rosso is more than just a vermouth—it is a piece of Italian drinking history, offering both nostalgic charm and a one-of-a-kind tasting experience for collectors and connoisseurs.
