Porto Valriz, 1858

Very Very Old Tawny Port, DOC Douro
Coimbra de Mattos

This Port wine is one of the oldest available in the world! The wine was produced in 1858 by Domingos Ayres de Mattos (1829-1890) and kept in bottles in the cellar of his residence, “Casa de Cima”. Domingos’ son Antonio Ayres de Mattos (1879-1956), father of the current owners of this family owned business, was aware of the wine’s exceptional quality and (possibly motivated by sentimental reasons), wanted to leave the destiny of such a ‘treasure’ to his heirs. The wines were tasted in 1969 and again in 2013 for quality control. Almost the entire stock was found to be in perfect condition. In 2013 the owners decided to re-bottle and sell a small quantity of this exceptional port.

Duque do Porto, 1830

Vinho Tinto do Portal - Miguel Antonio Malleiro

The *1830 Duque do Porto* – *Vinho Tinto do Portal*, produced by Miguel António Malleiro, is an extraordinary relic of Portuguese winemaking history and one of the oldest surviving examples of its kind. Dating back nearly two centuries, this wine stands as a testament to the enduring craftsmanship of early 19th-century vintners, created long before modern techniques, when production was entirely artisanal and reliant on generational knowledge. Surviving bottles from this era are exceptionally rare, making this a treasure of immense historical and oenological value.

In the glass, it would be expected to show a deep mahogany-brown hue with green reflections at the rim—hallmarks of extreme age in fortified or long-lived red wines.

Blandys, 1826

Boal Solera 1826

1826: the year Thomas Jefferson, wine enthusiast, passed away. On 5 April, 2014, noted Madeira specialist Richard Mason wrote of this wine: “One of a set of solera wines released in the 1950s and 1960s. This was probably bottled between 1956 and 1960 and is based on the 1836 Campanário that Walter Grabham left to the Blandy family on his death in 1955. Deep mahogany colour; rich smoky nose, autumnal bonfires and a touch of forest floor; rich lemon and lime marmalade with lovely mouthfeel and texture, leading to a delicate marmalade finish. ”
