Capanelle - Raffaella Rossetti
Clearance Offer – Last Bottle Was £79 Now £45

1982 Vino da Tavola – Capanelle / Raffaella Rossetti (Tuscany, Italy)

A fully mature, old-school Tuscan red that favours perfume and savoury finesse over power. Brick-garnet with a broad tawny rim, it opens on dried cherry and amarena, rose petal, cedar and sweet tobacco, with hints of orange peel, tea leaf and a gentle balsamic/underbrush note. Mid-weight and silken on the palate: lively, old-world acidity carries savoury red-cherry fruit, dried herbs and subtle leather; tannins are fine and resolved. The finish is long and tapering with cherry skin, cedar spice and dried flowers.

Producer note: Capanelle/Capannelle’s early Vino da Tavola bottlings from the 1980s sit in the “pre-IGT” super-Tuscan tradition—Sangiovese-led,

Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 1981

Jean Astier

The 1982 vintage in Châteauneuf-du-Pape was marked by a warm, ripe growing season—yielding wines that were generous and approachable early on, yet capable of graceful aging. After more than four decades in bottle, this wine offers a deeply gratifying glimpse into the matured, old-school style of Southern Rhône winemaking.

This 1982 Jean Astier Châteauneuf-du-Pape pours with a deep garnet core and gently brick-tinged edges. The nose unfolds with heady aromas of dried cherry, leather, baked herbs, and incense. On the palate, it presents lifted, nuanced fruit—think stewed plum and fig—woven together with tobacco, Provençal garrigue, and a hint of gamey complexity.

Dolcetto, 1981

Bersano
Clearance Offer - Last Bottle | Was £99 | Now £50

A native black grape variety of Northern Italy grown almost exclusively in the provinces of Cuneo and Alessandria in Piedmont. It is relatively easy to cultivate, although it is susceptible to fungal diseases. It ripens before Barbera and Nebbiolo and is often grown in high north-facing sites which would be unsuitable for Nebbiolo. The finest Dolcetto wines come from grapes grown on soils rich with white marls, especially those found on the right bank of the River Tauro. The wines generally are low in tannins and acidity and are usually fruity and fragrant, often with hints of almonds.

Blandys, 1980

Sercial
HALF BOTTLE 37.5cl

The 1980 Blandys Sercial Madeira is "Based on Sercial grown on the north west corner of the island at Seixal and Porto Moniz where I am told that this grape produces the most gentle fruit: lovely clean, lifted aromas, green fruit, apple peel with a touch of citrus; lovely fresh appley flavours with a hint of toffee and milk-chocolate, perhaps just a touch of salinity, steely acidity running all the way through, fresh and lithe on the finish, dry but not austerely so with 55g/l of residual sugar. Graham's Port, 1980

Vintage Port

Purple fading to red and finally pink at the rim. Rich blackberries on the nose along with very faint stewed strawberries. The tannins were powerful on Christmas day but mellowed some by the next evening. The blackberries carried through as a prominent flavor, but added a sourish note almost like a sour cherry. The finish starts out with a rich butter cookie note, but then quickly switches to grape stem.

The deep-purple juice of Montepulciano grapes is used in varying proportions to produce wines under roughly 50 of Italy's DOC and DOCG titles. Although sometimes used on its own,
