Janneau

Janneau was founded in 1851 by Pierre Etienne Janneau and is one of the oldest great Armagnac houses. It was passed through 4 generations of the Janneau family until it was bought by Cognac Martell in the early 70's which in turn was bought by Seagram at the beginning of the 80's. In 1993, the Giovinettis bought Janneau with the intention of returning the house to its original status as a family-run business paying meticulous attention to detail and quality. Janneau sets itself apart from other producers of Armagnac by using two types of distillation: "continuous" and "double". Today Janneau is managed by Fabio Giovinetti and continues to lead the field in the Armagnac sector in terms of quality and innovation.

Janneau, 1947

Armagnac 1947 Vintage

The 1947 Janneau Armanac is the expression of a single year and has a unique character associated with the year and the cask in which it has been stored. These vintages are bottled at the alcohol level in which they naturally come out of the cask. There is a wonderful contrast between the sweet and sour flavours of wood, amplified by the strong alcoholic degree. Rich palate feeling the alcohol and the concentration of dry plums, spicy with persistent flavour of rancio and of spices, but round, soft and long in the finish. The tannins are very present, but full-bodied and round.
