We have created an exclusive Palmer Aged Tawny Collection containing 6 x 60ml tasting tubes of aged tawny Ports and colheitas. We have selected these ports so that you can experience how these ports change with extra maturation in oak barrels. There is progression from the lighter, fruit-driven 10 year old tawny port to the powerful and dense aged 40 year Port. We have added a 1990 and 2011 so that you can compare them to a single harvest Port from a similar period (1990 - 30 years and 2011 - 10 years)

Samuel Palmer, a late ancestor of the Van Zeller family - once owner of Casa de Malladas - was a maverick and a remarkable icon in the trade of high quality Port Wine to England. Paying attention to every single detail, the Van Zeller family have carefully aged thir wines in the highest quality oak casks to ensure that they mature these rare elixirs as Samual Palmer once wanted them to be.

The Book of Port comes from Barão de Vilar, established in 1715 and owned by the Van Zeller family, Alvaro and Fernando, who've long been luminaries of the port business. They have an incredible range of colheita or single harvest ports in their collection spanning 150 years.

Tasting Notes

10 Year Palmer A clear, medium tawny colour feathering to a pale orange rim. Dried orange peel, light brown sugar, maraschino cherry, and baking yeast aromas, anise, soft baking spice, and crushed earthy rock flavours. Medium body, bright acidity, and a softly sweet burnt sugar and cherry liquor finish with a hint of citrus and spice. Good long finish starting with a little heat before the flavours take over. Very good. 90/100 VWP TC 23.4.21
