Description

The Kopke Vintage Port 2016 is firm, intense, crunchy, unctuous and fresh. It’s multi-layered in flavours, firm tannins and has an excellent balance between sweetness and acidity.

The winemaker Carlos Alves comments:
"A deep black colour. An intense and complex nose, laden with very ripe black fruit – plums, blackberries and cherries. Notes of cocoa, black pepper and a soft hint of violet. Unctuous and vigorous, it has several layers of flavours, firm tannins and excellent balance between sweetness and acidity. A long, deep and fresh finish."

Reveals flavors of black fruit, with notes of plum, raspberry and cherry, and a touch of chocolate truffles. The final is seductive, stained wood. It has a huge potential for bottle aging, suggesting the consume of this wine.

Candied fruit with ginger and black treacle. Smooth, manicured tannins – buffed and polished to a fine sheen. Medium body, very well-integrated spirit and sugar – the only thing it lacks is a bit more persistence and complexity on the finish, but that may well emerge with age. (RH)
