Description

The 2020 Altano Douro wine is full bodied but soft textured, this Dourored is incredibly moreish, full of rich red fruits and spices. Grapes are sourced from the Symington family’s own Dour Valley vineyards.

Altano is a blend of Tinta Roriz that provides the rich berry fruit and Touriga Franca that adds a lifted floral character, the majority of the blend was aged in American and French oak casks to soften up the muscular tannin of the Douro grapes so the wine is ready for immediate drinking. An exceptionally good, everyday wine.

TASTING NOTE
Deep, crimson colour. Fresh rockrose fragrance with background aromas of Mediterranean vegetation and notes of red fruits, with raspberry coming to the fore. Good body, nicely seasoned by the peppery tannins that provide a taut structure. Ripe, succulent flavours of red plums.

Blend of Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz from the Symington family's own quintas. Part oak-matured and bottled under natural cork.
Bright crimson. Mouth-filling, correct Douro fruit. Not too ambitious and not desperately complex or long-lived but a great price and with really natural, explosive fruit. Damson fruit on the end.
