Description
The Amarone DOC 1971 L. Bertolo 75 cl 14% is a traditional red wine from Veneto, Italy. Produced in the area of Verona under the Amarone della Valpolicella DOC and bottled by L. Bertolo, it is typically made from partially dried local grapes (Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara), following the classic appassimento method that gives Amarone its richness and structure.
Tasting notes:
Now extremely mature and well beyond peak, it shows evolved and tertiary aromas. The nose offers dried cherry, raisin, plum, leather, tobacco, and sweet spice, with earthy and slightly oxidative notes depending on storage.
On the palate it is soft, fully evolved, and light compared to its original richness. Acidity is gentle, tannins are resolved, and fruit has shifted into dried, savory tones. Finish is medium-short with earthy and slightly bitter almond notes.
Serving & food pairing:
Best served at 15–17°C if well preserved. Decanting only for sediment.
It can still accompany:
Braised or roasted meats
Game dishes
Aged cheeses
Rich mushroom or risotto dishes
Producer:
L. Bertolo was a commercial bottler sourcing wines from different Italian regions. This Amarone reflects the traditional style of Valpolicella production before modern quality-focused Amarone winemaking became widespread.
