Description

This 2001 Wine is the sibling of the famous Haut Brion wine from the same estate. Excellent quality at a fraction of the price.

"Good medium ruby-red. Expressive nose combines red cherry, raspberry, minerals and flowers. Minerally and firm, with sound acids giving the flavors good definition. Fresh and lively wine, finishing with substantial tongue-dusting tannins." - May 2003, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar.

A fine second wine, the stylish 2001 Bahans Haut-Brion offers abundant quantities of black currant fruit intermixed with spice and subtle earth notes. With medium body, outstanding purity, and a sweet attack, it will drink well for a dozen or so years. Approximately 30% of the crop made it into this cuvee.

Reviews

Wine Spectator
Elegant, with nice berry and tobacco character and hints of vanilla. It's medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a light finish. (3/2004)
