Description

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino DOCG by Banfi is a structured and age-worthy Sangiovese from Montalcino, produced in a vintage considered very balanced and suitable for long maturation.

Tasting Notes: Now approaching full maturity, it likely shows complex aromas of dried cherry, plum, and blackberry, alongside evolved notes of leather, tobacco, dried rose, balsamic herbs, and earthy forest-floor nuances. On the palate it is expected to be medium to full-bodied, with refined but still present tannins, lively acidity, and a long, elegant finish with layered tertiary complexity.

Serving & Food Pairing: Best served at 16–18°C, ideally after 1–2 hours of decanting to open the bouquet and soften sediment. It pairs beautifully with roasted red meats, wild game, truffle dishes, and aged cheeses.

Producer: Banfi is a major estate in Montalcino, known for combining modern winemaking techniques with traditional Sangiovese expression, helping to establish Brunello di Montalcino as one of Italy’s most prestigious wines.
