    Tasting Notes
With an intense red hue with violet tints, this wine takes on the Burmester style in a more elegant and fragrant profile where, in addition to the notes of tropical fruit, floral notes, orange blossom nuances, cassis, rosemary, fruits of the forest and plums stand out. A wine of great finesse, with a tense and muscular tannin with light notes of liquorice and fresh fruit. With a long and elegant finish, in the style of Burmester, this wine is the purest expression of the excellence of the Quinta do Arnozelo terroir. Drink from 2027-2055+

    Serving and Food pairing
Vintage Ports are best decanted and served slightly below modern room temperature: 16° to 18° C. Pair it with chocolate-rich desserts – such as chocolate fondant with redcurrant coulis or dark chocolate mousse. Goes very well with an intense-flavoured cheeses, like Queijo da Serra, or blue cheeses (Stilton, Roquefort).

The 2019 Vintage Port Quinta do Arnozelo, a single-quinta Port, is a 55/35 blend of Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, plus a dollop of Tinta Roriz, coming in with 110 grams per liter of residual sugar. This was set for release at the end of July 2021, after bottling on April 19, 2021. I've been hard on Burmester at times, but things are looking up. This is very promising. It's certainly not the most concentrated Porto, but it is bright and fresh and has finesse to spare. The light-and-bright feel is very appealing. This just sparkles, thanks to its good acidity supporting the delicious fruit. It lifts that fruit and makes it all the more enticing. This projects lots of flavor, but there is certainly structure and a backbone. It is firm on the finish. This is admittedly not a powerhouse, but it is still delicious enough and structured enough to win its fair share of fans. The next day, the tannins had moderated to some degree, but it still showed great fruit, freshness and enough tannic pop. It is fair to say that it will be accessible relatively young and then hold a reasonable time. It won't be the best choice to make really old bones, but it will certainly be a lot of fun in the short to mid-term because it is so fresh and so tasty.- Mark Squires.

According to the winery's brief vintage report, "At Quinta do Arnozelo, located in the Douro Superior subregion, the harvest of Port wine grapes started on 16th September with the harvesting of the Touriga Nacional first, [which are] exposed to the northeast at 280 meters in altitude, then on to Touriga Franca at 200 meters in altitude and facing east and finally, Tinta Roriz facing northwest with an altitude of around 250 meters."

From a property on the south bank of the river in the Douro Superior (formerly ascociated with Cálem), a blend of Touriga Nacional (picked first), Touriga Franca, then Tinta Roriz (picked last): lovely crimson hue; open, floral mid-weight with vibrant supported by grippy tannins. Lovely firm fruit showing elegance and definition on the finish. 6,591 bottles declared.
