Cabernet, 1976 – Lagariavini Riserva

The 1976 vintage across northern Italy unfolded with warm, steady ripening conditions that favoured classic structure and balance over exuberant fruit. Cabernet planted in the cooler, high-altitude vineyards of the north responded with concentrated phenolic ripeness and refined profile. Lagariavini, a traditional producer with roots in meticulous vineyard care and patient ageing, has long embraced a restrained Riserva philosophy — seeking harmony and definition above flamboyance. This 1976 Riserva is a testament to that restrained, matured expression.

Tasting Notes:
Now a deep garnet fading to tawny at the rim, the bouquet reveals elegant tertiary development. Dried cassis, black cherry and plum skin are woven with notes of cedar, tobacco leaf and polished leather. With time in the glass, subtle graphite, warm spice and a hint of forest floor emerge. On the palate it is medium-full with gracefully integrated tannins; savoury, nuanced layers of dried dark fruit, fine oak spice and earthy complexity unfold through a long, measured finish.

Serving & Food Pairing:
Gently decant to separate any natural sediment. Serve at cellar temperature to best appreciate the mature aromatic complexity. Excellent alongside slow-braised beef, roast lamb or well-seasoned game, and pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses.
