Description
Cabernet DOC 1980 Angoris is a red wine from the Isonzo del Friuli region, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy, produced by Angoris, a historic winery known for its meticulous winemaking and dedication to Friuli’s terroir. This vintage highlights Cabernet Sauvignon’s structured elegance while expressing the subtle nuances of the Isonzo plains, with its alluvial soils and moderate climate.
Tasting Notes:
The wine shows a deep garnet color with brick-orange hints along the rim, typical of a well-aged Cabernet. The bouquet is refined and layered, featuring aromas of blackcurrants, dark cherries, and hints of plum, complemented by tertiary notes of leather, cedar, tobacco, and earthy undertones. Aeration brings forward subtle spice, balsamic nuances, and mineral hints, enhancing the wine’s complexity and depth.
On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, with smooth, integrated tannins and well-balanced acidity. The finish is long and elegant, revealing dried dark fruits, gentle spice, and earthy undertones, reflecting both the careful maturation and the expressive character of Cabernet from Angoris’ Isonzo vineyards.
Serving & Food Pairing:
Serve at around 16–18°C.
Pairs beautifully with roasted or braised red meats, game, rich pasta dishes, mushroom risottos, and medium- to aged cheeses. Its refined structure and aromatic depth also make it enjoyable on its own as a contemplative tasting wine.
Producer:
Angoris is celebrated for producing wines that combine elegance, authenticity, and long-term aging potential. The 1980 Cabernet DOC demonstrates the winery’s skill in expressing the varietal character while respecting the traditions of Friuli winemaking.
