Château Calon Ségur 2019 – Saint-Estèphe 3ème Cru Classé

The 2019 vintage in Bordeaux is widely regarded as exceptional, combining ripeness, structure and freshness. Château Calon Ségur has produced a wine of impressive depth and precision, perfectly expressing the château’s classic Saint-Estèphe character.

In the glass, it shows a deep, opaque ruby-purple colour. The nose is intense and refined, offering aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum, layered with notes of cedar, graphite, dark chocolate and subtle spice, alongside a gentle floral lift.

On the palate, the wine is powerful yet beautifully balanced, with fine-grained tannins and a vibrant backbone of acidity. Concentrated flavours of cassis and dark berries are supported by savoury undertones of tobacco, liquorice and well-judged oak. The finish is long, focused and mineral-driven, with excellent persistence.

Château Calon Ségur 2019 is a wine of great pedigree and ageing potential. While already approachable with decanting, it will continue to evolve gracefully in bottle for many years to come.

Food pairing: This wine is an excellent match for roast or grilled rib-eye steak, lamb rack with rosemary, beef Wellington, venison or duck with berry sauces, and rich mushroom-based dishes.
