Remarkably still quite dark. Gently faded fruits give way to a soft tapestry of tertiary development dominated by leather and tobacco leaf. I couldn't get the picture out of my head that I was standing in an 18th century nobleman's study, with lots of dusty, leather-bound books, fine rugs, a freshly swept fireplace and the essence of a drum of tobacco sitting in the room. Such a pleasure to look back into history like this. Interestingly, the aromas seemed to fade pretty quickly after just 10 minutes in the glass, but after another ten minutes without swirling, the aromas came back to life, with the wine even adding some welcome weight (though it never went beyond medium-bodied). Drink now.
