Description
Château Sociando-Mallet 2010 – Haut-Médoc
The 2010 Sociando-Mallet is a powerful yet beautifully classical expression of the estate, produced in one of Bordeaux’s greatest modern vintages. Deep ruby-garnet in colour, it still shows remarkable intensity and youthful energy.
The nose is rich, focused and complex, offering layers of blackcurrant, cassis and dark cherry, supported by cedar, graphite, cigar box and subtle smoky oak. With air, notes of liquorice, violet, leather and crushed stone emerge, adding depth and precision.
On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full bodied, structured and tightly woven. Firm, fine-grained tannins frame flavours of dark berry fruit, redcurrant, tobacco, earthy minerality and gentle spice. The acidity is vibrant, giving the wine drive, balance and impressive length.
The finish is long, confident and persistent, leaving lingering impressions of black fruit, cedar and savoury graphite. This is a serious, age-worthy Sociando-Mallet with true Left Bank authority.
This wine pairs superbly with roast beef, lamb, venison, rib-eye steak and rich slow-cooked dishes, as well as mushroom or truffle-based sauces. It also works beautifully with aged hard cheeses.
A bold, structured and classically styled Bordeaux with excellent ageing potential. The 2010 Sociando-Mallet combines power, precision and elegance, and is drinking well now with decanting, but will continue to reward further cellaring for many years to come.
