Description
Château d’Armailhac 1995 – Pauillac 5ème Cru Classé
The 1995 vintage in Bordeaux produced structured, classically styled wines with excellent ageing potential, and Château d’Armailhac has matured into a fine and characterful expression of Pauillac.
In the glass, it shows a deep garnet core with brick-red hues at the rim. The nose is complex and mature, offering aromas of blackcurrant, dried cherry and plum, layered with notes of cedar, tobacco, leather, graphite and gentle spice.
On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with softened yet persistent tannins and a well-balanced structure. Flavours of cassis, redcurrant and dried fruits are complemented by savoury nuances of earth, cigar box and subtle oak. The finish is long, refined and gently drying in a classic Pauillac style.
Food pairing: This vintage pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef fillet, duck, veal and mushroom-based dishes. It also works very well with mature hard cheeses such as Comté, aged Cheddar or Gruyère, where its savoury complexity is shown to best advantage.
Château d’Armailhac 1995 is now drinking at or near its peak, offering classic Bordeaux character, elegance and mature Pauillac charm.
