Description
Château d’Armailhac 1997 – Pauillac 5ème Cru Classé
The 1997 vintage in Bordeaux produced wines of early approachability and softer structure, and Château d’Armailhac offers a charming, fully mature expression of Pauillac.
In the glass, it shows a medium garnet colour with brick-red tones at the rim. The nose is open and evolved, with aromas of redcurrant, dried cherry and plum, layered with notes of cedar, tobacco, leather and gentle earthy spice.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and supple, with resolved tannins and a harmonious structure. Flavours of red berries, dried fruits and subtle savoury notes of forest floor and cigar box lead into a soft, elegant finish.
Food pairing: This vintage pairs beautifully with roast chicken, duck, pork loin, veal, and mushroom-based dishes. It also works very well with semi-hard and mature cheeses such as Comté, Gruyère and aged Cheddar.
Château d’Armailhac 1997 is now fully mature and best enjoyed over the near term, offering gentle, classic Bordeaux charm with easy-drinking elegance.
