Description
1975 Chianti – Villa Cusona (Tuscany, Italy)
A fully mature, classical Chianti showing perfume and savoury finesse. Brick-garnet with a broad tawny rim, it opens on dried cherry and amarena, rose petal, cedar and sweet tobacco, with hints of orange peel, black tea and a gentle balsamic note. Mid-weight and silken on the palate: lively, old-school acidity carries red-cherry fruit, dried herbs and subtle leather; tannins are fine and resolved, the finish tapering with cherry skin, cedar spice and dried flowers.
Producer note: Villa Cusona is the historic Guicciardini Strozzi estate near San Gimignano, long associated with traditional Sangiovese and tuscan classics—elegance, aromatic lift and age-worthy poise.
Serve: 16–18 °C. Stand upright 12–24 hours; very gentle decant for sediment just before pouring.
Food pairing: Roast chicken with herbs, bistecca tagliata, porcini risotto, pecorino stagionato.
