Quinta Do Panascal Vintage Port
The wines of Quinta Do Panascal are rich, with voluptuous fruitiness, mouth filling density and a velvety texture. Being one of the most highly regarded vineyards in the Douro Valley, these ports are a pure expression of the estate’s terroir. These wines are approachable at an earlier stage but still offering the exceptional structure to lay down and enjoy a delicious vintage port for years to come.
Messias Colheita Port
Caves Messias is a historic family owned producer renowned for their colheita and vintage ports. Founded in 1926 by Messias Baptista, the company has remained a family owned business up to the present day. Their 2005 colheita port has matured in cask until recently. The extended ageing has rendered this wine luscious sweet spice aromas, with beautiful dried prunes and vanilla notes. The finish is persistent and fine.
Very good- Both wines come in a double leather effect gift box with silk liner
2004 Fonseca Quinta Do Panascal Vintage Port
***94 Points - Wine Enthusiast ***
***90 Points - Wine Spectator ***
From the very good 2004 vintage the Fonseca Panascal offers A fat, plump, luscious wine. Full of rounded, ripe jammy fruit aromas. Almost warm 'marmalada' like note to the nose. The ripeness and richness of fruit is reinforced in the mouth with flavours of plump, bursting plums and cherries. Great notes of tobacco, smoky tea (lapsang) and spice. A warm, velvety, satiny wine. An enticingly very textural wine! Best after 2015.
2004 Messias Single Harvest Tawny Port
The Messias colheita port from the good 2004 vintage has been aged in a barrel until bottling in 2015.
The extended barrel aging has given this wine a beautiful straw colour. Young, fruity fresh aromas that evolve over time, giving rise to a bouquet that brings out the aromas of dried fruits, aromas of roasting, wood and spices. Soft, harmony and complexity in the end. Great finish -There's no question about the quality on display here.
