Description

Cantine Tre Castelli Dolcetto – 5.0L

Overview:
A rare large-format mature Dolcetto from Piedmont’s Ovada region, this impressive 5.0-litre bottle reflects the traditional style of long-aged Dolcetto, combining evolved fruit character with earthy tertiary complexity and remarkable harmony developed over more than four decades in bottle.

Appearance:
Deep ruby-red with pronounced garnet evolution at the rim, showing graceful maturity and excellent preservation for its age and format.

Nose:
Expressive and fully mature, revealing aromas of dried black cherry, stewed plum and gentle spice layered with notes of leather, forest floor and subtle earthy nuance. With air, delicate herbal and savoury tones emerge alongside hints of cocoa and dried fruit.

Palate:
Smooth, mellow and harmonious, with softened tannins supporting flavours of stewed dark fruits, dried cherry and plum. Subtle notes of cocoa, dried herbs and earthy spice add depth and complexity, while the wine retains impressive balance and freshness for its age.

Finish:
Long, elegant and savoury, lingering through dried fruits, gentle spice and classic mature Piedmontese character.

Decanting:
Stand upright for 2–3 days to allow sediment to settle. Decant carefully through a fine strainer and aerate 1–2 hours before serving at 16–18°C. Fragile corks are common; strain any fragments during decanting.

About the Producer:
Cantine Tre Castelli is a traditional Piedmontese producer associated with the Ovada area, a region long respected for producing expressive, fruit-driven Dolcetto wines capable of developing notable tertiary complexity with extended bottle age.
