Description
Dow’s 20 Year Old Tawny Port is a refined expression of aged tawny style, blending the rich, mellow characteristics of long oak aging with the structure and elegance for which Dow’s is known. Crafted from high-quality grapes—primarily Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Barroca—this port is aged in seasoned oak casks for an average of 20 years before blending and bottling in Vila Nova de Gaia.
In the glass, it presents a deep amber-tawny color with golden highlights. The nose is expressive and complex, offering aromas of dried apricots, roasted nuts, orange peel, caramel, and warm spices like cinnamon and clove. Subtle hints of toffee and fine oak underscore the long barrel aging, creating a balanced and inviting bouquet.
On the palate, it is smooth, rich, and layered, yet not overly sweet. Flavours of figs, hazelnuts, honey, and butterscotch unfold with elegance, supported by bright acidity that keeps the wine fresh and lively despite its maturity. The finish is long, nutty, and gently spiced, leaving a lasting impression of warmth and refinement.
Dow’s 20 Year Old Tawny Port is ideal served slightly chilled, either on its own or paired with desserts such as crème brûlée, nut tarts, or aged cheeses like Stilton. It’s a sophisticated, contemplative port—perfect for slow sipping and special moments.
