Description
The 1955 Graham’s Vintage Port is one of the great post-war classics and a benchmark for long-lived, opulent Port. Nearly seventy years on, it continues to display the house’s signature richness, offering a gorgeous aromatic profile of sweet dried fruits, rose petal, walnut and warm spice. The colour has faded to a deep tawny-ruby rim, yet the core retains remarkable vitality for a wine of this age.
On the palate, the 1955 delivers a silken, almost weightless texture. Flavours of fig, caramelised orange peel, molasses and redcurrant mingle with notes of almond and soft cocoa. The sweetness is beautifully integrated, never heavy, and balanced by a gentle thread of acidity that keeps the wine fresh and lifted. This is mature Port at its most graceful.
Time in bottle has added wonderful layers of complexity. Hints of tobacco leaf, old polished wood, hazelnut and antique spice emerge, creating a deeply evocative, atmospheric character. The finish is exceptionally long—warm, nutty and aromatic—showcasing the pedigree of both the vintage and the Graham’s style.
A rare and mesmerising bottle, the 1955 Graham’s Vintage Port is perfect for those seeking a fully mature, historic Port that still has presence and charm. Ideal for special occasions, anniversaries or collectors building a vertical selection, it offers a sublime drinking experience and stands as one of the finest Ports of the 1950s.

“One of my all-time favourite Ports...A big wine that has evolved perfectly... mature but rosy-cheeked; glorious bouquet, a fabulous fragrance erupting out of its depths. Sweet, refined, silky yet still tannic, fleshy yet firm”.Michael Broadbent, Vintage Wine, Published 2002
