Description
Graham’s, 1991 Vintage Port
The 1991 vintage in the Douro followed a challenging 1990 season but ultimately produced a number of excellent Vintage Ports, particularly from producers with the best vineyard holdings. A warm, dry summer allowed the grapes to ripen fully, while cooler conditions during harvest helped retain freshness and balance. The resulting wines show impressive structure combined with attractive fruit purity.
Graham’s 1991 Vintage Port reflects the house style beautifully — rich, powerful and generous. Now reaching a lovely stage of maturity, it offers a complex bouquet of dried blackberry, plum compote and fig, layered with notes of cocoa, cedarwood and spice developed through bottle ageing. On the palate it is full-bodied and velvety, with ripe dark fruit, chocolate and hints of liquorice supported by well-integrated tannins. The finish is long, warming and elegant.
A mature Vintage Port that is drinking well now but still has the structure to continue evolving for years to come. Perfect for marking a 1991 birthday or anniversary, and an excellent partner to blue cheeses, dark chocolate desserts, or simply enjoyed slowly at the end of a fine meal.

*** 94 Points Robert Parker ***
"Graham's 1991 Vintage Port gets my nod as the port of the vintage. While keeping in mind that Graham's aims for a sweeter-styled port, there is no doubting the opaque purple/black colour, or the explosive nose of black fruits, licorice, spring flowers, and tar. Thick and full-bodied, with a satiny texture and a blockbuster, alcoholic finish, this is a top-notch vintage port." Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 1995. Drink now to 2030+
