Description
This mature Grignolino comes from Tenuta dei Re, a traditional Piedmontese estate known for producing characterful wines that express the naturally light-bodied yet aromatic nature of the Grignolino grape. The wine presents a pale ruby-red colour with garnet and orange-tinged highlights, indicative of long bottle ageing. On the nose, it offers delicate aromas of dried red berries, rose petal, white pepper, and subtle herbal notes, alongside gentle hints of earth and spice. The palate is refined and elegant, with fine, softened tannins supporting flavours of sour cherry, cranberry, dried herbs, and a faint mineral edge. The finish is dry, savoury, and persistent, highlighting the wine’s finesse and classic Piedmontese character.
Decanting: Stand the bottle upright for 2–3 days prior to opening to allow any sediment to settle. Decant slowly and carefully through a fine strainer, allowing 1–2 hours of gentle aeration before serving at 16–18°C. A fragile cork is very common with older bottles, where the wine has been in prolonged contact with the cork over many decades. We therefore recommend straining any cork fragments during the decanting process.
