Description

This mature Grignolino d’Asti comes from Bertolo, a traditional Piedmontese producer known for crafting expressive wines that highlight the distinctive, lightly structured character of the Grignolino grape. The wine displays a pale ruby-red colour with garnet and orange-tinged highlights, reflecting its long and graceful ageing. On the nose, it reveals delicate aromas of dried red berries, rose petal, white pepper, and subtle earthy notes of dried herbs and forest floor. The palate is refined and elegant, with fine, gently softened tannins carrying flavours of sour cherry, cranberry, hints of spice, and a faint mineral edge. The finish is long, dry, and savoury, showcasing the wine’s finesse and classic Grignolino character.

Decanting: Stand the bottle upright for 2–3 days prior to opening to allow any sediment to settle. Decant slowly and carefully through a fine strainer, allowing 1–2 hours of gentle aeration before serving at 16–18°C. A fragile cork is very common with older bottles, where the wine has been in prolonged contact with the cork over many decades. We therefore recommend straining any cork fragments during the decanting process.
